KNOLL COTTAGE PEACH MELBA

(STRAWBERRY FRAPPE X STRAWBERRY CANDY) Tetraploid, Dormant, M, 30 inches tall, 4 inch flower, 1 to 2 lateral branches plus a Y with a 15 BC.  Over the years, I have seen the BC range from 15 up to 30.  Pod and Pollen fertile.  REBLOOMED in 2008 on a mature clump.  HARDY in Zone 5.

KNOLL COTTAGE PEACH MELBA is an enticing daylily and Harry Bishop, the hybridizer of ITSY BITSY SPIDER, saw this daylily when it first bloomed and said “If this was mine, I would drop to my knees and thank God.”  Another friend, Linda Ryer, helped me to name this lightly rolled back, peach daylily with a somewhat narrow raspberry red eye.  It reminded her of peach melba pie made with peaches and raspberries, thus the name KNOLL COTTAGE PEACH MELBA.  No fragrance. SOLD OUT

KNOLL COTTAGE EDNA B

(PASTEL ACCENTS X SILOAM SHOCKER) Diploid, Dormant, M, 20 inches tall, 3 inch flower, 1 lateral plus a Y, and a 12 BC.  Pod fertile.   (I have not attempted to use the pollen to test fertility).   HARDY in Zone 5.

KNOLL COTTAGE EDNA B has been the sweetest little daylily since its earliest bloom always consistently lovely in a pale cream with a delicate yellow edge enhanced by the large red eye fading to a lovely green throat.  KNOLL COTTAGE EDNA B is named after my Mother, a very tiny woman, and one who always made her presence known.  $35.00 TRIPLE FAN

WHIP CITY CARNIE

(WHIP CITY JITTIE X Unknown) Tetraploid, Evergreen, M, Unusual Form, CRISPATEPinched, 34 inches tall, 6 inch flower as is, 1 lateral plus a Y with a 13 BC.  Pod fertile.   (I have not used the pollen to test fertility).   Very HARDY in Zone 5.

WHIP CITY CARNIE reminds me of a carnival or a clown and makes me smile when I see it.  (Click here to see clump)  The orange red color is very bright and it has a deep yellow to green throat making this daylily very cheery!  No fragrance with this beauty.  The unknown pollen parent for WHIP CITY CARNIE is the first daylily I ever purchased and I never recorded the name.  A friend named it 'Lori’s Fall Promise' when I gave her a division for her garden, so it does have a garden name.   $60.00 DF

WHIP CITY FANCY FREE

(WHIP CITY WILLIE B X LONG STOCKING) Tetraploid, Evergreen, EM, Unusual Form, CRISPATETwisting, 36 inches tall, 8 ½ inch flower as is, 2 lateral plus a Y with a 14 BC.  Pod and pollen fertile.  REBLOOMED in 2008 on a mature clump.  Very HARDY Zone 5.  The color of WHIP CITY FANCY FREE is a lovely medium rose color with a large green throat and this daylily is fragrant.

WHIP CITY FANCY FREE normally refuses to look the same and is a wonderful Unusual Form with a mind of it’s own as you can see by the photo of the same daylily side by side.  In 2006, I took a picture showing how narrow the sepals can get.  Click here to see narrow sepals.)  WHIP CITY FANCY FREE also has nice branching and looks great in a clump.  (Click here to see clump)  $ 80.00 DF

WHIP CITY JITTIE

(RED SUSPENDERS X FRANKIES FANTASY) Tetraploid, Dormant, EM, Unusual Form, CRISPATEPinched, 29 inches tall, 7 ¼ inch flower as is, Y branching, 9 BC.  Pod & Pollen fertile.  HARDY in Zone 5.

WHIP CITY JITTIE has a light rusty orange red color, but the flower really pops with the midribs leaving the yellow to green throat out to the very tips of the petals.  There is a hint of an eye, but not enough to say there is one and there is no fragrance.   SOLD OUT

WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE

(Seedling # 99-71 X WHIP CITY WILLIE B ) Tetraploid, Dormant, EM, Unusual Form, CRISPATETwisting with some pinching and curling, 35 inches tall, 8 ½ inch flower as is, 2 to 3 way branching plus a Y with a   24 + BC. .  Click here to see branching.) Pod and pollen fertile.   HARDY in Zone 5.

WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE won the AHS Best Seedling Award at Tower Hill in MA in 2007.  One of the first things that the Exhibition Judges look when judging a seedling is that it has to be different than anything they have seen.  If it passes this first test, then they continue to evaluate the seedling on merit and grooming.  I was so pleased when seedling #03-392 won the AHS Best Seedling Award.    Click here to see AHS Best Seedling Award photo.)
WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE is a very striking golden yellow daylily with a green throat and no fragrance.   To have WHIP CITY SLINKY SLIDE blooming in a clump is truly marvelous.  Holding for Increase

WHIP CITY SLINKY WALK

(TWIST OF LEMON X RISEN STAR) Tetraploid, Sev., EM, Unusual Form, CRISPATETwisting, 36 inches tall, 7 1/2 in flower as is, 1 lateral plus a Y with a 10 BC.  Pod and pollen fertile.   Very HARDY in Zone 5.

WHIP CITY SLINKY WALK is a lovely pale yellow flower with a light pink border that runs alongside the inside edge on the sepals.  The height, hardiness and stamina comes for its parent TWIST OF LEMON, and its delicate beauty comes from RISEN STAR.
This year we had more rain than usual for the month of July and I found the daylily flowers were a little fatter than usual.   Click here to see clump.)  However, upon going back in my photo file and looking at WHIP CITY SLINKY WALK as it matured, the picture that I am using to represent WHIP CITY SLINKY WALK is how it usually looks.  SOLD OUT

WHIP CITY WILLIE B

(CHICAGO STAR X RISEN STAR) Tetraploid, Dormant, M, Unusual Form CRISPATETwisting, 27 inches tall, 7 inch flower as is, 1 lateral plus a Y with a 10 BC.    Pod and pollen fertile.    HARDY Zone 5.
WHIP CITY WILLIE B is a brilliant yellow due to the immense amount of green found not only in the throat, but over the entire daylily.  Many garden visitors have been awed with WHIP CITY WILLIE B and it has impressed me enough to name it after a man that I admired and loved, my Dad.   $60.00 DF

WHIP CITY ZINGIE

( KNOLL COTTAGE TOTSIE MAMA X RED SUSPENDERS) Tetraploid, Dormant, ML, Unusual Form, CRISPATEPinched, 39 inches tall, 7 inch flower, 1 lateral plus a Y with an 11 BC.  Pod  and pollen fertile.   HARDY in Zone 5.

WHIP CITY ZINGIE is a gleaming daylily with a noticeable darker pink coloration blended with red making this daylily very attractive and one of my favorites even though it has no fragrance.   Click here to see clump.)  These pictures do not capture the color I am describing.  WHIP CITY ZINGIE is a good example of what KNOLL COTTAGE TOTSIE MAMA can do with dormancy and height when coupled with an Unusual Form and used as the pod parent.  SOLD OUT
